Peeking through the curtains early in the morning, I saw a blue sky and a bright sun on this Thursday morning. Some moments later, fired up about meeting the creative team, I walked to the impressive headquarters of Woolworth’s department store in Cape Town. Invited by them to inspire about emerging trends and specific products for their collection. I was really looking forward to it! Very warmly received, I took a seat at a large oval table where the entire creative team was ready to listen to my story.
My talk was very well received and appreciated. It sparked a fiery discussion about the speed of development of trends seen around the world. One of the topics was about an – at that time – emerging trend in the Netherlands: do your shopping locally and get cauliflower and green beans from the farmer around the corner. In South Africa this trend had been going on for some time and was already anchored in society. In hindsight, it became even more clear to me that culture, market forces, competition, history, society, etc. have an enormous impact on the direction you have to choose as a brand. These influences make the input for each conversation unique and therefore also the output.
For now: take a refreshing deep dive into my website, discover the projects I have done and don’t forget to download my first magazine, full of colour facts and beautiful stories and an inspiring way to learn more about how I get influenced by things around me and my specific approach.
Warm regards, Marie-Gon
I have worked for over 20 years with (inter) national clients from various fields with a great love for interior design. All great brands that I have been able to inspire and push their boundaries without exceeding them. I have worked for many television programs talking about trends and helping people with their interiors. Also for a different scale of magazines (DPG media, Telegraaf groep, local magazines). Besides that I conduct a lot of trainings and talks. With all this experience, I have understood that all my senses must be open to be able to really and thoroughly help. I look forward to unravelling and understanding your challenges to solve them together. Let’s start with a white canvas!
