“the only routine with me is no routine at all”
In the summer of 1999, a friend asked me to do styling for photography: he had an advertising company and a client that wanted a new brochure. I didn’t need to be told twice and took a week off work at IKEA – my employer at the time – and set to work. With 0% experience and 100% enthusiasm, I succeeded in properly finishing this assignment and making a client happy! A beautiful moment was when I first met the photographer that opened the door to his studio. The moment I walked in there, I knew it: this is where I wanted to be!
The certainties I had in life were put aside, because after the turn of the century, I decided to build a new career and engage in things that give me energy every day.
For the past 15 years, I’ve had a lot of good things come my way and made them come my way: I had amazing opportunities, met inspiring people and did many, many diverse assignments. Not a single assignment is the same and that’s why I don’t work according to one set pattern. People and demand determine which route we take; we do it together. I literally start with a blank piece of paper, that’s why nothing is impossible and I can move in whichever direction I want easily. The input of the client is a source of inspiration, but I always try to take it up a notch and get everything out of the briefing, always searching for that WOW-effect or playful references. I love to surprise people!
My strength? I’ll take you with me in the large supply of colours and filter the palette that suits you without blinking an eye. Furthermore, I like to play with rooms, so they end up radiating a fun and natural feeling and I make sure they ‘work’ in favour of the inhabitants or users. For this purpose, I look for inspiration all over the world and close to home. I can translate everything that happens around us with ease and interpret it into trends and developments. This way, I can provide well-founded advice on products, styling, rooms, events, etc. I also like to transfer my knowledge to starting stylists and retailers. Plus, I also happen to inspire clients of my clients.
I love to help!
The next years I will live variably in the Netherlands and in India, because of a new challenge of the job of Jasper. For me, this will be an incredible source of inspiration. I am still easily accessible for all questions, preferably via email! Keep an eye on my blog regularly for the latest news and inspiration!
PS Do you have a XL-project? No problem, I like to work with Ellentine.
