“Marie-Gon’s coaching program has everything you need.”
I love doing a wide variety of things; it keeps me sharp. Whether it’s an interior design project for a home or an office, styling a trade fair stand, or developing the visual merchandising for a retail concept, if I spot a creative opportunity, I seize it. During quieter periods, I might take a course, visit a supplier, attend a networking event, or participate in an inspiration session within my field.
I started my career as a designer for Hunkemöller, where I spent six years designing lingerie, swimwear, and nightwear. Afterward, I worked for fashion retailers such as Miss Etam and M&S Mode, until I was invited to take on a different challenge. I then made the switch to visual merchandising, developing retail concepts and designing store layouts.
First client
For years, I had toyed with the idea of starting my own business, but the lack of security made me a bit nervous. Then came the coronavirus pandemic. I had put together a lovely mood board for myself, which got me thinking again: should I actually go for it? During the online ‘Boost Your Interior Business’ event, I felt so inspired by Marie-Gon that I reached out to her immediately. And that is how I became her first client.
“You’ll naturally find your own path. Marie-Gon makes sure of that.”
Marie-Gon has a wealth of experience in the field of interior design, whereas my own experience was limited to retail store layouts. And I knew absolutely nothing about building a business. Where do you even begin? I was hoping for some kind of step-by-step plan, but there isn’t a single starting point that you complete before moving on to the next phase. You’re never truly finished. Just get started, even if your website isn’t quite ready yet. Begin, even if you don’t yet have a clear picture of how you’ll position your business. It doesn’t matter; you’ll naturally find your own path. Marie-Gon makes sure of that.
Honest and open
To those considering working with Marie-Gon, I would say: go for it. She is an honest and open person, a highly experienced professional, and an excellent coach. She provides great guidance and is always accessible. I have benefited tremendously from her support.
I’ve also watched Marie-Gon’s videos, in which she explains everything, topic by topic, covering networking, working with color, designing kitchens and living rooms, handling commissions, and all sorts of other things. The one-on-one sessions with her were also fantastic. Marie-Gon is a real “people person”; I could turn to her with anything, and nothing was ever too much trouble.
Marie-Gon’s coaching program has everything you need. In the beginning, the contact is very intensive, and as you progress, you become increasingly capable of handling things on your own. I could always reach out to her to bounce ideas around, and she would consistently provide great tips. It was a truly valuable six-month program.
What’s on my mind right now is the question: what should my next step be? I’m considering bringing Marie-Gon back on board, as I believe she could help me reach the next level in my development. Or perhaps I need a different type of business coach? I think I’ll ask Marie-Gon herself.
